Where have I been?

That is a good question!… I have been asked that by a few folks here at timelessathlete.com and it appears that I have not made a post in almost a year…

Well, there is a good reason for that (at least I think it is)… over the last few months I have been training, not for any particular event, but just for me… I wanted to test (try out) some different training regiments to see what works and what doesn’t, especially for the “older” individual…

My wife even assisted with some of it, so we could bring the female perspective.

So stay tuned for I will be creating a ton of articles with hopefully some good tips and common sense ideas from the things I have learned over the last few months from my intensive training for the “older” individual.

Picking the Right Show

I don’t know why, but this seems to the be the place where most folks will cut corners when purchasing their running gear and it is really the place where you need to invest. Trust me on this one… Spending a little more and getting a top notch shoe will pay dividends later on… Especially if you are the older runner…

I know it can seem kind of strange to pay $100 or more for tennis shoes and I use to think that it is all a marketing scam. [click to continue…]

Successfully Completing a Half Marathon

picture-030The kids are grown and out of the house and you want to complete that dream of running a Marathon, but you are now in your 40′s… 50′s… 60′s… or older.

Your thinking… “Heck I’m no spring chicken anymore”. The old body just can’t do that kind of exercise, and besides I have not walked any distance let alone run anywhere in 20 years or more.

Well, I’m here to tell you that you can achieve it, that you can accomplish a Half Marathon or even a full Marathon. Will it be easy.. Heck NO! will it be fun… Heck YEAH! will you love it???? that depends… Some days you will, some days you won’t. But I guarantee you when you cross that finish line you will love it and have a feeling of accomplishment  that very few things on this planet will give you…. [click to continue…]
